Emerging pop queen, Maxon, has re-released her debut EP, 'New World'! That’s right, RE-RELEASED!
The project was so close to Maxon's soul, and derived from an abrupt realisation of human strength, that she wanted to give these songs one last push before releasing new music for 2018.
The EP is a collection of six heartfelt songs written as a first look into this emerging artist's new, musical world.
'New World' is about a revolution; it's dark but not sad, nor evil. The world isn't ending, it's growing and going to become something beyond our control, but we can choose our own path within it. Challenging themes like unconditional love, heartbreak, change, and human strength, 'New World' gives us freedom and reminds us to keep life simple. Give love, be happy, and most importantly, be yourself.
The key ingredients to Maxon's 'New World' are her talented collaborators and the manipulation of unique sounds to present each story.
'New World' is an honest and ambitious synthesis of pop and soul that shoulders a multitude of questions and insights.
It's a collection of self-analysis, with the maturity of a story-teller.
"Lyrically, it takes you on a journey of love” - says Maxon. “I've come to the realisation that if people do not love who I am, and support me on my journey, then I can't control that. I will give love, I will be happy in my own skin, and I will let go of all of the things that don't matter."
An odyssey, the moving EP was inspired by Maxon's musical heroes: Sara Bareilles, Alanis Morrissete, Adele and Jewel. Musicians who have always written through what they feel. Genre's vary, but said musicians have always tied their music together through story and voice.
Maxon's talents as a songwriter, musician and singer are wildly enviable, but there are notable contributions to her performance from a variety of people. First and foremost, co-producer Nayomi Pattuwage encourages her to explore and experiment with her vocal performances and creativity in production. Other while, UK producer and engineer, Dan Villalobos has inspired innovative and imaginative sound design, revealing imagery and
life within her works.
'New World' projects some deep themes, and one can safely say Maxon has experienced a lot in her 29 years. It is important to her that you listen to this EP with an open heart, understand its nostalgia, and feel the underlying message. L-O-V-E, LOVE!
Even though life gets tough, and you may long for something in the past, be present and keep it simple. 'New World' is about being brave and honest, and is relatable to us all. It's a revolution. Love yourself.
“I'm making music for us all! Break the rules, be a game changer. Speak freely, but think. Keep life simple, but keep moving. Love yourself. Love your friends. And, love your family.
No matter the circumstances. I love you all and thank you for sharing your love with me and my work.” - Maxon
A gifted and versatile artist, Maxon burst onto the Melbourne music scene in 2016 with her own brand of raw, emotionally-
driven pop songs and a dynamic vocal range that earned her comparisons to the likes of Adele, Meg Mac and even one of her biggest inspirations, Alanis Morissette....more
